I have been taking photographs as a personal expression for over fifty years, (gulp). It has been the only constant in my life. However, aside from random social media posts, I never really exposed my work, aka, Stu-Art.
My work means a lot to me. It is my legacy. A life’s work. At least that’s how I feel about it. It’s very personal. My closets are full of prints, my digital storage is never-ending. I am still shooting both film and digital.
I do very little manipulation. Maybe a little contrast or cropping. Digital allows more experimental creative shooting. With film, I make intuitive adjustments. I’m real stingy with film. I like shooting landscapes, still lifes and micro scapes. Trees, clouds, cactii, ground cover, sunsets, ripples and reflections are favorite subjects. I am influenced by impressionists, surrealists and abstract artists. I see nature in those terms. It is challenging. I like nature’s abstracts or abstracts in nature.
I named this site: Ripples and Reflections. Ripples emanate outward and become even more interesting and spectacular with just the right amount of wind and light. Reflections give pause for deeper thinking. It complements my abstractness, simple yet complex.
